Kinds of Aerial Conductors

Kinds of Aerial Conductors

1. Hard Drawn Aerial Copper Conductors

These conductors are applied for transmitting electricity along low-voltage and medium-voltage lines, where poles are short distances from each other and weather conditions are tough, as well. Each of the rods in the conductor should be of hard-drawn or unannealed types in order to survive mechanical impacts.

2. Thermal-resistant Aluminum-alloy Conductors (TACSR)

Thermal limitations in conductors made Simcat Company embark on manufacturing Thermal-resistant Aluminum-alloy Conductors (TACSR).

The passage of electric current through the conductor heats up and softens it, resulting in the loss of the mechanical strength of the conductor, which limits the flow of electric current or the capacity of energy transfer in transmission and distribution network lines. So, it is necessary to think of conditions to increase the thermal tolerance of the aluminum conductor used in airlines. Previously, this type of conductor was imported from foreign countries, but now, for the first time in the country, Simcat Company has succeeded in mass producing this conductor based on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard. The thermal tolerance temperature for aluminum conductors used in Aluminum conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR) conductors is eighty (80) degrees Celsius. But with alloying, the thermal tolerance has increased to 150 degrees Celsius, which means that the energy transmission capacity can be increased without building new lines or strengthening the bases, just by replacing the conductor with the same cross-section.
