Producing 6 animal meals as strategic products

Oilseed meal is the main component of feeding animals and a portion of food for livestock farmers. The production of the highest quality meal required for livestock and poultry has resulted in the maximum satisfaction of livestock farmers and livestock feed business owners. Sunflower meal, corn sprout meal, cotton meal, soybean meal, rapeseed meal, and sesame meal are among the products of Khorasan Cotton and Oilseed Factories (with the brand name Leefood).

1- Sunflower meal

Sunflower meal is obtained by extracting oil from sunflower seeds with or without husk. The amount of protein, raw fibers, and some other components of the meal varies depending on the method of oil extraction and whether or not the seed husk is mixed with its kernel. Sunflower meal as a protein supplier can be used in animal feed, and sunflower meal with lower fiber and higher protein content can be used in poultry feed. One of the advantages of the sunflower meal is the high amount of methionine amino acid in its protein. If mixed with other meals, it can be effective in producing higher quality and more useful animal and poultry feed.

2- Corn sprout meal

Corn sprout meal contains 22-27% protein, 4% sugar, at least 5% fat, and 10% ash. Corn meal has a high digestibility, and the amino acid lysine in corn meal protein is at a high level, which increases the biological value of its protein by mixing it properly with other animal feed ingredients.

3- Cotton meal

The cotton meal is the result of extracting oil from cotton seeds, which is considered one of the richest sources of protein in animal feed by containing 25-32% protein, 9% fiber, 4% calcium, and 9% phosphorus. The presence of essential amino acids with an acceptable amount and a high digestibility percentage in the protein structure of cotton meal is very significant. Cotton meal is a laxative, so it is very useful to consume it along with some other meals and constipating foods. The gum in cotton meal helps absorb water in the animal’s digestive system, hence increasing the volume of its contents, resulting in greater digestion and higher efficiency of animal feed.

4- Soybean meal

Soybean meal is obtained from the process of extracting oil from soybeans and has long been used as the most suitable herbal supplement for meeting animal and poultry protein needs. Soybean meal has the highest amount of protein among oilseed meals, which is rich in vitamins and minerals. Soybean proteins are rich in the amino acid lysine, so they can be used as a supplement with cereals that have little lysine.

5- Canola meal

Canola meal makes up approximately 50-58% of the weight of the seed in terms of dry matter and contains 38-43% protein. In the preparation of pure protein from it, suitable varieties of canola are used. The amount of glucosinolates in the meal and consequently in the resulting protein will be very low and within the permissible limit. Also, the meal contains a very good combination of essential amino acids, which is in accordance with the global health regulations regarding the need of animals for amino acids and has a high biological value.

6- Sesame meal

Different varieties of sesame meal contain 35% to 42% protein, which is used for animal feed. Also, husked sesame seed meal can be used for human consumption. Sesame meal protein is rich in sulfur-containing amino acids, including methionine and cysteine, as well as a sufficient amount of tryptophan, which can take an acceptable place in animal feed composition.
